Mayors Across America
We're taking our discussion with mayors nationwide with our roll out of Mayors Across America. Locally, we asked the area mayors their stance on receiving gifts from developers who are active in changing the zoning code. We received a response from the mayors of Bellingham and Nooksack, both of whom spoke out against the practice. Our Mayor in Blaine seems to think that this practice is acceptable in the community, based on her actions of accepting gifts while a developer is involved in changing the zoning process.
It seems like this is an issue that is creating positive dialogue and change in the community. Stay tuned and we'll post the results of our tour as they come in.
Thanksgiving
On this day of thanks, our team of dedicated journalists and investigators thank you. Thank you for showing up, keeping the torch burning through this long process, never giving up, and ultimately believing that the democratic process should prevail…and, it WILL prevail. Your voice inspires us every day to speak out for the people. You are now being heard after such an arduous process; the local government is hearing your voice.
It is from the countless hours of citizen testimony that we’ve poured over, night after night, that’s made our conviction stronger. We feel the weight of the entire city on our shoulders. You came to the meetings, you wrote letters, you spread the word, and you spoke out. Now, we are continuing to spread your message to a wider audience.
To be clear, the very future of our beautiful town is at stake. It is time for the people to say “no” to the shiny gifts that players can offer our communities when they have their own agenda. The future of this wonderful town needs to be in the power of the people…not just four members of city council. How do you want our town to look? What is your vision? Shouldn’t this be a community effort? As the old Verizon commercial so beautifully said, “Can You Hear Me Now?” Yes, those council members are starting to hear you, and change is happening.
Keep on believing and continue to spread the word throughout our community. In unity, we will have a voice. Together change is happening. The future of our beautiful Blaine depends on all of us as a community. Stronger together.
Happy Thanksgiving from our family to yours,
The Professor and The Team,
Seekers of Truth
